The Macallan Carta Nautica 20 Years Old – Travel Exclusive

The Macallan Carta Nautica 20 Years Old – Travel Exclusive

The Macallan Carta Nautica 20 Years Old is an exceptional 20-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from The Macallan's distinctive Carta Nautica Collection. The collection tells the story of oak travelling across the Atlantic between North America, Jerez de la Frontera in Spain and The Macallan Estate in Scotland. The 20 Years Old expression is a Travel Exclusive release.

The name “Carta Nautica”, derived from the Spanish term for a nautical chart, reflects the journey undertaken by the oak and casks across the Atlantic. This expression brings together the influence of sherry seasoned oak from Jerez de la Frontera with further maturation in American oak casks that previously held bourbon.

After 20 years of maturation, the whisky presents a layered profile combining classic Macallan characteristics with vibrant fruit and sweeter influences from the bourbon-seasoned casks.

The nose reveals rich creamy vanilla, vibrant orange peel, charred pineapple, juicy mango and apricot conserve. On the palate, notes of peach tea, caramelised figs, leather and chocolate orange emerge. The finish brings together toasted orange spice and dried tropical fruits.

With its natural colour, 20 years of maturation and distinctive combination of cask influences, Carta Nautica 20 Years Old offers a fascinating expression of The Macallan's approach to oak, travel and maturation.
